Complementary circuits
A work usually travels through several successive channels: festival selections, theatrical releases by territory, international sales, television broadcast and exploitation on video-on-demand services.
Each channel has its windows, contractual obligations and technical delivery expectations, which must be anticipated as early as the financing plan.
Controlling rights and territories
A work's international value largely depends on the clarity of its chain of title: music, archives, stock footage, rights of the people filmed.
A coherent, documented and verifiable territory split avoids deadlocks at the sales stage.
